How does The BetterGuard work?
Betterguards intelligent ankle brace technology protects from common ankle injuries without sacrificing freedom of movement. During normal activity, The BetterGuard offers a full range of motion. In the event of sudden twisting or rolling, the mini piston activates to stabilize the ankle, allowing your body time to react before a serious injury can occur.
What technology is built into The BetterGuard?
The adaptive Betterguards technology is the multi-patented adaptive mini piston. The technology is developed by German engineers and is designed to protect athletes from common ankle injuries, such as sudden twisting or rolling, without sacrificing freedom of motion.
What types of injuries does the BetterGuard ankle brace protect against?
The most common ankle injury is a lateral ankle sprain. The BetterGuard ankle brace reduces the risk of severe ankle sprains by reducing the amount of lateral ankle inversion and or supination movement in the event of sudden ankle rolling or turning. The brace is designed to stabilize the ankle during high-velocity inversion and or supination movements, providing stabilization and time to react before injury occurs.
When do I use The BetterGuard?
The BetterGuard ankle brace is ideally suited as a preventative support for those who want to protect their ankles from common and frequent ankle injuries. Its responsive ankle bracing technology can benefit those who are at high risk of ankle turning or rolling during sports, work, or other high-risk activities. The BetterGuard ankle brace can also be used for recovery after an ankle injury to prevent re-injury during the rehabilitation process. It's important to consult your doctor or healthcare provider to find out if The BetterGuard is right for you.
Will The BetterGuard work for my sport?
The BetterGuard is being worn by professionals and amateurs in almost every sport including Basketball, Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Baseball, Tennis, Running, Golf, Handball, Skateboarding, Lacrosse, and many more.
Will The BetterGuard fit in my shoe?
Because of the lightweight comfortable, and sleek design of The BetterGuard, it will fit in any athletic shoe or cleat. We recommend low-top over high-top shoes for best results.
How do I choose the right size?
To find the right size for you, please refer to our size chart. If you are between two sizes according to the size chart, you should use your ankle circumference as a guide. For instance, if you have a slim foot, ankle, and calf area, we recommend choosing a smaller size. If you're not sure, order the larger size.
How do I put on The BetterGuard?

I am between two sizes. Which size should I choose?
If you are between two sizes according to the size chart, base your decision on your ankle circumference. This is the crucial measure for size selection. If you are between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger brace.
How long does The BetterGuard last?
The brace is intended for repeated use. When used as intended, the minimum operating life of the mini piston is two million cycles, equivalent to four million steps. The duration of use of the brace depends on the extent of usage. Depending on the specific sport, usage, and care of the product, we expect a durability of at least 3-6 months with intensive use several times a week.
Can wearing an ankle brace damage my shoe?
As with any protective device, some additional wear and tear may occur as a result of wearing an ankle brace under your shoe. In most cases The BetterGuard is not expected to damage the shoes.
Can I wear The BetterGuard instead of a sock?
It's important to understand that The BetterGuard is not a replacement for socks and should always be worn with socks that are at least as high as the top of the brace.
Do I wear the BetterGuard under or over the sock?
Please always wear The BetterGuard over your socks.
What material is The BetterGuard made of?
The BetterGuard is made of different polyester and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) materials, and some small metal parts. The fabric of the brace and flexible compression sleeve consists of 62% polyamide and 38% elastane.
I am having an issue with my brace. What can I do?

How long does The BetterGuard last?

Depending on the specific sport, usage, and care of the product, we expect a durability of at least 3-6 months with intensive use several times a week.
When should I not use The BetterGuard?
The product MUST NOT be used in the presence of any of the following:
› Anatomical conditions that prevent correct application
› Lymphatic drainage disorders
› Arterial circulatory disorders
› Post-thrombotic states
› Skin diseases or skin irritations
› Acute injuries or open wounds in the ankle and/or foot area
› Severe sensory disturbances in the lower extremities
› Polyneuropathy (e.g. diabetes mellitus)
› Post-traumatic or postoperative acute care (e.g. swelling, hematoma, fresh scars)
At what outside temperatures can I wear The BetterGuard without problems?
For use, we recommend not exceeding a maximum outside temperature of 40° C and not falling below an outside temperature of -10° C. When storing, please make sure that the bandage is dry, frost-proof and protected from direct sunlight.
Where is The BetterGuard made?
The BetterGuard is designed in Germany and manufactured within the EU. The built-in mini piston is produced at our location in Germany.
Can I wash BetterGuard?
You can wash The BetterGuard by hand at a maximum of 86°F. Please close the hook and loop fasteners beforehand to protect the product. Afterward, let the brace air dry. Do not iron or bleach the brace. Do not dry the brace in a dryer, in direct sunlight, on a heater, or with a hairdryer. If necessary, clean the hook and loop fastener to ensure its functionality.
Did I choose the wrong size?
The BetterGuard is intended to fit snug for best results. Keep in mind, the products ergonomic features are designed to mold to your foot like a second skin. My product is damaged. What can I do?
If your BetterGuard is damaged and this is not due to normal wear and tear, please contact our customer service. It's best to send an email and include a picture of the damage along with a description. This will help us expedite the processing and resolve your issue. Please send the email to support@betterguards.com with your concerns
Can I wear BetterGuard on both my left and right ankles?
While individual preferences may vary, many athletes prefer to wear two braces as a preventative measure to protect both ankles from injury.
Should you choose, The BetterGuard is available for both left and right ankles.
Order and Payment Questions
Where can I find my order?
A few minutes after receiving your order, we will send you a confirmation email with your order number. If you don't find the email in your inbox, please check your spam folder. If you use Gmail, please check your advertising folder. Please note that it may take some time for us to receive your order and send the confirmation email.
If there is a typographical error in the e-mail address provided, we are unfortunately unable to send a confirmation e-mail. But don't worry, your order will still be processed normally.
How long will it take to get my orders?
It depends on where you are. Orders processed here will take 5-7 business days to arrive. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.
Do I get an purchase confirmation / receipt?
Yes, you should receive a purchase confirmation by e-mail.
What emails will I receive about my order?
1. Subsequent to your order via the order receipt
2. Your invoice with the order processing
3. From the logistics provider that your package is on the way including tracking number
Why was my online order canceled?

How do I pay using HSA/FSA?
Simply add products to your cart as usual and at checkout, select “Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment option, enter your HSA or FSA card, and complete your checkout as usual.
What if I don’t have my HSA/FSA card available?
If you don’t have your HSA or FSA card handy, still select “Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment method. Enter your credit card information and you will receive an email from Flex with an itemized receipt for reimbursement.
Why is my HSA/FSA card being declined?
The most common reason why a transaction has been declined is insufficient funds. Reach out to your HSA/FSA administrator to confirm your balance.
I submitted my Flex itemized receipt for reimbursement and my FSA requires more information.
Please forward us the request from your FSA, and we will work with the Flex team to issue you a new receipt.
Help! I didn’t receive an email from Flex with my itemized receipt and/or letter of medical necessity. What should I do?
Please check your spam folder, as sometimes emails from notifications@withflex.com may be automatically filtered as spam by some email service providers. If you still can’t find it, please email support@withflex.com and let them know the email address associated with your order.
I would like to use multiple HSA/FSA cards to pay for an item. Can I do that?
Unfortunately, we are not able to support split transactions across multiple HSA/FSA's at this time. However, if there are insufficient funds in a single HSA or FSA account, then you can complete your purchase with a credit card and submit for reimbursement later.
Shipment & Delivery Questions
How long will it take to get my orders?
It depends on where you are. We strive to ship orders in 1-2 businesses days. Orders processed will take 5-7 business days to arrive. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.
How much is shipping?
Standard shipping is free for orders within the US. Additional shipping charges may apply for expedited shipping and orders outside the US.
What delivery options are there?
Our main delivery method is USPS, but you may upgrade to expedited shipping for an additional cost.
How do I check my delivery status?
As soon as the package has been shipped, the delivery status can be viewed via the tracking number of the shipping service provider.
How long does it take after receiving my shipping confirmation before I can track my order?
Usually after the parcel has been accepted by the logistics service provider and a shipping label has been printed.
Why is my order delayed?
We always try to ship your order within 1-2 working days. However, unexpected factors can sometimes cause delays.
Your order may be delayed for the following reasons:
› Your order was shipped during our promotional period.
› You have ordered more than one item. In exceptional cases, your order may arrive in different packages and at different times.
› Your order was placed on a federal or regional holiday. All products are shipped from our warehouse in the US.
› There were other causes beyond our control.

What should I do if I haven't received my package?
If your package does not arrive within the standard delivery time, you can contact our support team support@betterguards.com
Why can't my order be shipped?
There are various reasons why we cannot ship your order.
Some possible cases are:
› The item(s) you ordered are currently not in stock.
› You live in a particularly remote area that we cannot deliver to.
› You have entered a PO box as the delivery address. Unfortunately, it is not always possible for us to deliver to PO Boxes.
› There was a payment problem with the order.
Warranty & Returns
What is the warranty on my item(s)?
If a product from our online shop has a defect and you want to return it, please use the official return process. Our quality management will then take care of the problem.
If, when inspecting the product, we determine production-related damage or a deviation from the usual standard, you will receive a new item as a replacement or the purchase price will of course be refunded.
We cannot be held responsible for damage caused by reasons other than those stated, such as damage resulting from negligence, misuse or wear and tear.
Please note that the lifetime of a product depends on individual use, wearing habits and wearing conditions. Products that break down through normal wear and tear or have exceeded their usual lifespan cannot be replaced.
Which return conditions do I have to consider?
Returned items must be in the following condition:
› The item(s) must not show any signs of use that go beyond normal inspection.
› The item(s) must be returned in its original packaging (and suitable for shipping).
› We can only take back the item(s) with the original label.
How long does it take to process my return?
After you have given the package to the parcel service for return shipment, it usually takes 2-7 working days until it arrives at our warehouse.
After arrival at our warehouse, processing usually takes place within 24 hours. During busy periods, processing can take longer than 24 hours.
When will I get my refund?
We will refund costs using the payment method you used when ordering within fourteen (14) days after receipt of the returned goods.
What should I do if I received the wrong product?
If you have received a product in the wrong size, you can send it back and place a new order in our online shop (see return conditions).
How do I return the product correctly?
In the returns portal you have the option of returning your product(s) to us. To do this, you need your order number and the Zip/Postal Code that was specified when you placed the order. In the next step you can edit the corresponding product from your order.
Please select the reason you want to return the product and specify the refund method. You can use the comment field to send us further information.
Once all the necessary data has been filled out, you can download and print the return label and the return request.
Only ship the product in suitable shipping packaging. Place the return request document in the package and stick the printed return label on the outside so it is clearly visible.
Important: We can only process returns with an enclosed return request document. For a smooth return process, we recommend leaving a detailed explanation in the comments field.
What do I have to do if I want to exchange a product?
If you need a different size after trying it on, you can send it back via the returns portal and place a new order through the returns/exchange portal.
