How does The BetterGuard work?

The core of the innovative brace is an intelligent mini-piston. It works like a car seat belt - only for your ankle. During normal movements, The BetterGuard offers a high range of motion. Only during critical movements, where there is a risk of lateral ankle injury, the technology is activated and stabilizes your ankle, aiming to lower the risk of lateral ankle injury.

What technology is built into The BetterGuard?

The adaptive Betterguards Technology is a multi-patented adaptive mini-piston, developed and produced in Germany.

What does the bandage protect against?

The brace is intended for adaptive ankle joint stabilization and targeted movement limitation of the ankle during very fast inversion and/or supination movements.

When do I use The BetterGuard?

The brace is indicated for people who are at increased risk of ankle injuries during sports, everyday activities or at work. The brace can also be used in rehabilitation after an ankle injury.

Are there different versions of the sports brace for different sports?

The BetterGuard is suitable for use in various sports. It comes in five different sizes and for the right and left side.

Can the sports brace be prescribed by a doctor on prescription?

The bandage is currently not listed in the medical supply directory and is therefore only available over the counter. Please inquire with your health insurance to see if they partially subsidize or fully reimburse the product.

Does the protection of the ankle joint have a negative effect on the knee joint?

Scientific publications show no negative influence on the knee joint in the sagittal plane. Further data collection, whose publication is still pending, confirms this for the knee and hip joint.

What material is The BetterGuard made of?

The base material of the bandage is composed of 62% polyamide and 38% elastane.

How do I choose the right size?

To find the right size for you, please refer to our size chart .

I am between two sizes. Which size should I choose?

If you are between two sizes according to the size chart, base your decision on your ankle circumference. This is the crucial measure for size selection. If you are between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger brace.

How do I put on The BetterGuard?

Please follow the pull-on instructions to put on the sports brace correctly.

What shoes does The BetterGuard fit into?

The BetterGuard shall only be used with low-cut shoes.

Can my shoe be damaged by the sports brace?

Damage to shoes by The BetterGuard is not expected but cannot be ruled out due to abrasion.

Can I wear The BetterGuard instead of a sock?

No, please always wear the sports brace with a sock which is higher than the brace.

Do I wear The BetterGuard underneath or over my sock?

Please always wear The BetterGuard over your socks.

Can I wear the sports brace on both the left and right side?

There is a left and a right version available. Use the brace for the left foot on the left side and for the right foot accordingly on the right side.

What is the lifespan of The BetterGuard?

The brace is intended for repeated use. When used as intended, the minimum operating life of the mini piston is two million cycles, equivalent to four million steps. The duration of use of the brace depends on the extent of usage.

Depending on the specific sport, usage, and care of the product, we expect a durability of at least 3-6 months with intensive use several times a week.

My product is damaged. What can I do?

If you notice any damages, the functionality may be compromised. The brace should not be used in this case. Please contact our customer support at support@betterguards.de with your concerns

When should I not use The BetterGuard?

The product must NOT be used in the presence of any of the following: 
› Anatomical conditions that prevent correct application of the brace 
› Lymph drainage disorders 
› Arterio-vascular disorders 
› Post-thrombotic conditions 
› Skin disease or skin irritation › Acute injuries or open wounds in the area of the ankle and/or foot
› Severe sensory disturbances in the lower extremities 
› Polyneuropathy (e.g. diabetes mellitus) 
› Post-traumatic or postoperative acute care (e.g. swelling, hematoma, fresh scars)

At what outdoor temperatures can I wear The BetterGuard?

We recommend not to exceed a maximum outside temperature of 40° C and not to fall below an outside temperature of -10° C for use. When storing, please make sure to keep the bandage dry, frost-proof and out of direct sunlight.

Where is The BetterGuard manufactured?

The BetterGuard is designed in Germany and manufactured within the EU. The built-in mini piston is produced at our site in Germany.

Can I wash The BetterGuard?

You can wash The BetterGuard by hand at a maximum of 40°C. Please close the hook and loop fasteners beforehand to protect the product. Afterward, let the brace air dry. Do not iron or bleach the brace. Do not dry the brace in a dryer, in direct sunlight, on a heater, or with a hairdryer. If necessary, clean the hook and loop fastener to ensure its functionality.

The bandage feels very tight when you put it on, did I choose the wrong size?

The BetterGuard molds to your foot like a second skin. As a result, getting in can be a little tight at the beginning, but that soon clears up. If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Support.

Where can I find my order number?

A few minutes after receiving your order, we will send you a confirmation email with your order number. If you do not find an email in your inbox, please check your spam folder. If you use Gmail, please check your advertising folder. Please note that it may take some time for us to receive your order and send the confirmation email.

If there is a spelling mistake in the email address you entered, we will not be able to send a confirmation email. But don't worry, your order will still be processed normally.

What emails will I receive about my order?

How do I know if my order is being processed?

You will receive an email from our side after the order process.

Is it possible to get an invoice that shows VAT?

Yes, the invoice shows the value added tax.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free of charge for you within Germany. Outside of Germany, shipping costs are min. 9.90€.

How do I check my delivery status?

As soon as the package has been shipped, the delivery status can be viewed via the tracking number of the shipping service provider.

How long does it take to track my order after I receive my shipping confirmation?

Usually after package acceptance on the part of the logistics service provider.

Why is my order delayed?

We always strive to ship your order within 2-5 business days, but unexpected factors can sometimes cause delays.

Your order may be delayed for the following reasons:
- Your order was shipped during our promotional period.
- You ordered more than one item. In exceptional cases, your order may arrive in different packages and at different times.
- Your order was placed on a German or regional holiday. All products are shipped from our warehouse in Germany.
- There were other causes beyond our control.

Why can't my order be shipped?

There are several reasons why we may not be able to ship your order.

Some possible cases are:
- The item(s) you ordered are currently out of stock.
- You live in a particularly remote area that we cannot deliver to.
- You have entered a P.O. Box as delivery address. Unfortunately, we are not always able to deliver to PO boxes.
- There was a payment problem with your order

What should I do if I have not received my package?

If your package does not arrive within the standard delivery time, you can contact our support team.

Warranty & Returns

What is the warranty on my item(s)?

If a product from our online store has a defect and you would like to return it, please use the official return process. Our quality management will then take care of the problem.

If we find a defect in the product due to production or a deviation from the usual standard, you will of course be refunded the purchase price.

We cannot cover damage caused by reasons other than those listed, such as damage due to negligence, misuse, or wear and tear.

Please note that the lifetime of a product depends on individual use, wearing habits and wearing conditions. Products that break due to normal wear and tear or have exceeded their normal lifetime cannot be replaced.

What return conditions do I have to be aware of?

Returned items must be in the following condition:
- Product exchange or return is possible within 14 days. 
- The item(s) must not show any signs of use beyond normal inspection. 
- The item(s) must be returned in their original packaging (and suitable for shipping). 

The item(s) can only be accepted for return with our original label attached.

How do I return the product?

In the returns portal on our website, you have the option to send back your product(s) to us. For this, you will need your order number and the email address provided during the order. In the next step, you can edit the corresponding product from your order.

Please select the reason for returning the product and specify the refund method. You can use the comment field to send us additional information.

Once all necessary data is provided, you can download or print the return label and return request.

Ship the product only in suitable shipping packaging. Place the return request document inside the package and securely attach the printed return label to the outside of the packaging.

You can drop off the package for free at any DHL store. After we receive the package and process the transaction, you will receive information from our support team.

Important: We can only process returns with the attached return request document. For smooth processing, we recommend providing a detailed explanation in the comment field.

How long will it take to process my return?

After you have submitted the package to the parcel service for return shipment, it usually takes 2-7 business days until it arrives at our warehouse.

After arrival in our warehouse, the processing usually happens within 24 hours. During peak periods, processing may take longer than 24 hours.

When will I receive my refund?

We will refund costs using the payment method you used when placing the order within fourteen (14) days of receipt of the return.

What should I do if I received the wrong product?

If you have received a product in the wrong size, you can return it and place a new order in our online store (see return policy).

What do I have to do if I want to exchange a product?

If you have received a product in the wrong size, you can select the exchange option in the Returns Portal. Please make sure to indicate your new size in the comment field. We will send you the new size once your ordered product is back with us.

What can I do if my product is defective or damaged?

If your BetterGuard is damaged and this is not due to normal wear and tear, please contact our customer service. It's best to send an email and include a picture of the damage along with a description. This will help us expedite the processing and resolve your issue. Please send the email to:
